Why See Chicago?

I truly believe (and it's been confirmed by others) that Chicago is the best city in America to visit or live in

New York is amazing and I am from that area, so it did take a lot to admit it out loud, but Chicago has everything New York has. It is much more friendly, greener, and cleaner. Plus it’s just more easy to live in.

And for a traveler, it’s a wonderful spot to go to to see world renowned structures (with among the greatest skylines in the world), world class museums, parks, food from all over the world, along with the astonishing and enormous lakefront (Lake Michigan is so big that we can not see the other side, so it appears we are on an ocean).

Location

The town is bordered on the east side by Lake Michigan, the vastness of which cannot be underestimated. The neighborhoods closest to the waterfront — Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Magnificent Mile, Loop — are the most bourgeois. They get more edgy as you travel west. The streets are divided by state Street into west and east sides; Madison street divides north from south. Sensational architecture both old and new is everywhere.

In and out of the city

O’Hare International Airport (ORD), the busiest in the USA, is about 20 miles northwest of the town and could be reached in 40 minutes on the Blue line from the loop. It takes about a half hour on the Orange line from the loop, or 30-60 minutes by cab. If you have to get to the other, the El is the most pain free solution to do it.

Boats

More than 350 boats will compete in this year’s race featuring crews from around the globe including Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, among others. While this really is freshwater race, many experts of the competition say fickle winds and its unpredictable weather make it a supreme evaluation, to rival that of any ocean race.

If you’re needing a bit more extravagant view of the race’s departure, make sure to test out Ashore Thing, a pre-game to the sailboats departure held at Navy Pier. There’ll be a cash bar serving Vueve Clicquot, Belvedere cocktails, and Leinenkugel’s summer shandy as well as other drinks to accompany the breathtaking views. The event is family friendly with many activities for kids and there will undoubtedly be live entertainment in the kind of Million Dollar Quartet followed by one of Chicago’s most popular DJs.
